I've used Vitamin C as a supplement for thirty years and have always reopened on it to help keep my health in top condition. This product is a loose powder (bulk) in a plastic/foil bad with a zip closure. It just doesn't get simpler than this. Its easy to use and I can scoop the exact amount of Vitamin C and put it into a fresh veggie/fruit juice I make at home. In the summer I use 5 grams a day and in the winter I bring it up to 8 or 10 grams a day depending on how sick everyone else is around me. It takes time to build up tolerance to these levels so take it slowly, please, and since the bowel tolerance is discussed ad nauseum on the net I'll not rehash it here.More importantly is that when I received it I realize that I could use this product for an entry new purpose and this is really the focal point of this review. The city I live in had changed the water treatment from Chlorine to Chloramine (a combination of chlorine and ammonia) years ago. I previous had chlorine filters so that the toxic chemical would not bother me but chorine is a very small molecule and chlorine filters just don't filter it out at all. I started noticing dryness and itching all over my skin even though I drink lots of water every dat and take fish oil supplements every day.No water purification system on the market would take out the cloramine except the super expensive ones that are just not affordable at this time. Then it dawned on me that I had read articles about people in Japan and San Francisco using Vitamin C to treat their water.I did my research and found that chloramine is alkaline (a base) and Vitamin C is an acid. If you add an acid to a base, it gets neutralized and becomes inert. Most acids are hazardous to humans but Vitamin C is safe, and necessary, for us. I guess I could have tried an experiment to try vinegar but then I would smell worse wen I got out of the tub so I didn't try that.I did try a quarter teaspoon of this purse acerbic acid (Vitamin C) in my batch water, bathed in it every dat for the past several weeks and I have had no problem with the chloramine irritating me at all. This is a great solution because Bulk Supplements on Amazon is the only place where I can get large bags of vitamin C powder so I can sprinkle in exactly how much I need, and no more and its so much less expensive this way. Its the perfect solution for me.There is no fragrance although when I first pour the vitamin c into the hot water, a tiny amount does fly away and I can smell/taste a little but its a refreshing citrus taste that is barely noticeable and is rather pleasant, so its just not a problem.I'm now highly recommending this product to everyone and have added it to my permanent reorder list.
