Overall we are really happy with this meat slicer; however, the plastic meat guard is useless and extremely dangerous. The little bumps on it that are supposed to hold the meat in place just slide over the meat. ?? My son nearly lost his fingers when trying to grab the roast after it kept moving with the blade. During cleaning, we discovered one of the three little screws that keep the blade in place is completely stripped. The machine is not too loud so that is a plus. We like our meat very thin and this slicer does that job. We are returning it due to the broke screw and will try another one, but we are purchasing a stainless steel mesh glove to hold the meat since the plastic guard is not safe to use.
