I can't rave enough about this food. I had an older chihuahua mix that suffered from severe GI issues/allergies, among other health problems. After spending months trying prescription foods recommended by my vet (which she didn't like nor tolerate well), I finally ending up cooking homemade dog food for almost 2 years. Then, a friend recommended this brand to me, and I decided to try it after I received a seal of approval from my vet. My sweet chihuahua loved it, and tolerated it wonderfully. I think very highly of this company as well... I called Dave's to ask some general questions, and Dave himself was actually answering my questions in the background while I was speaking to the rep! Impressive!! He was very informative and helpful. Today, I am mixing this with a dry food for 2 rescues, and it is the only food they will eat. I am a sold customer!I used to buy this for my dog who has stomach issues. For over a year it was great, but recently I've opened cans where the guar gum has not been mixed in with the food. There are BIG solid pieces of gelatin all thru the can. I even had quite of few cans where the guar gum is black! I actually called the company and spoke to the owner who was very nice and is aware of the issue but so far I haven't seen any changes in the product.Bought two cases, one back in October/November and the other around Christmas. First case was fine, helped him with the sensitive stomach issues he’s developed in his old age. Dog didn’t love it but he’d eat it if he was hungry enough and it kept his poops normal . Second case, opened several cans and thought they smelled funny. First can made the dog sick. Now he won’t touch them, even the ones I think smell fine, and it’s put him off eating any ground meat paste like it; he won’t eat the case of lamb (green cans) I bought either, which he used to love. At least the cat likes them. 2 stars for a good product when it’s not suffering quality control issues.My senior dog likes this food if I mix it with dry food. My teenage dog snubs her nose at it hoping to get some of the prescription dog food that my middle age dog eats. People say cats are picky eaters but I can you that dogs can be too! I also have 3 cats with individual tastes in cat food.I used to feed my dogs Natural Balance, but didn't like it after they reformulated it. This turns out to be even better. The ingredients are high quality and it's thick -- a couple of spoonfuls with kibble make my dogs happy and a can feeds the two of them for a couple of days. Very happy with the product (I tried it at the recommendation of a local professional dog breeder; she feeds it to grown dogs and puppies).I love being able to buy a bland diet wet dog food without a prescription! It did not help whatever was ailing our chihuahua, but our bigger dog loves it!Tried many healthy, all natural, organic, no grain foods and my dog hates every single one including Science Diet. Surprisingly, she likes this one! I'll buy again.One of my dogs recently had emergency surgery necessitating removal of 1/3 of his small intestine. Of course, his recovery required a bland diet. I dreaded getting his finicky self to eat prior to the surgery and worried about what I faced now. Thank goodness I found Dave's dog food. Mealtime is stress free because my pup loves it unlike any dog food I had ever tried. Wonderful stuff. I'll never switch.
